The Process

Over the years, I’ve developed a strategic creative process that guides myself and my clients to success 100% of the time. I never begin a project without an introductory video call to get to know my client, their heart, and their goals. I’ve found that my other systems do not matter if I don’t first know my client.

Below is a detailed overview of what you can expect after our first call <3

01

Beyond the call, I focus first on Verbal Discovery before moving into any Visual Discovery. Verbal Discovery often looks like a detailed questionnaire that helps me know my client more, stretches them to articulate in terms of design, and really gets their thoughts on paper before we move into the distracting world of visuals. This step may not seem important at first, but it is a crucial part of strategy that holds us accountable to goals that we set.

02

Once we have completed Verbal Discovery, we hop right into the world of Visual Discovery. This step helps us identify imagery, colors, and fonts that the client is attracted to. The goal for this part of discovery is to come away with a moodboard that we can refer back to at any step in the process. I never move on from Visual Discovery without a perfect moodboard.

03

Once the moodboard is fully approved, I take the next couple of weeks to craft my client’s  brand. I design one logo concept. In the past, I would present multiple concept directions, but I found that my Verbal and Visual Discovery processes are so effective that I always know which logo my client is going to choose. Rather than spending time on creating logos that I know my client doesn’t want, I spend that time building out the full brand. This is valuable because a brand is so much more than a logo, and it's easier to envision a logo out in the world if the brand is fully developed. My clients and I have had great success with this method and I think it’s so much more fun this way!

Each project has 2 rounds of refinement built in where we communicate and refine to perfection. Additional rounds of refinement are always available for purchase, but I’ve never had the need arise.

Once all is said and done, I love to launch my client’s project with them. I have an entire *super fun* process for that, but the short version is that I make us graphics to share on social media, we set a time, and put the project out into the world together. For the long version, go here.
